Kim: I would chop off my right hand, left ear, and give away my firstborn child to speak Creole. Spanish is old news, bring on the language that 80% of my investigators speak better anyway. There´s such a language barrier trying to teach in a language that both the missionary and the investigator are just learning. I have one Creole Book of Mormon that I don´t give out, I just read it with them. I could probably learn how to read Creole from it, but the problem being that Creole is mostly just a spoken language. Maybe I should just learn French... :) What does "yo" even mean? I think it´s so great that you, me, and Aunt Shara all have taught Haitians.
Brayan and Davy were baptized this week. (They surprisingly remind me of Landon and Charlie sometimes) and their parents came both to the baptism and the confirmation! That was a miracle in and of itself.
Story for the week: We got a reference this week, a Haitian man that sells fruit. We searched for his house every day this week and couldn´t find him. First, we start down an alley that doesn't look like there should be anything back there. But it actually opens up into a callehon. You´d be amazed at how many people can fit in one alley. Then to the left down another alley, then to the right, and it´s a dead-end. But don´t give up faith, because if you turn sideways and hold your breath, you can fit between two houses and lo and behold, that crack opens up into another alley, and at the end of it, we found our reference. He wanted us to visit right then, but it was pretty much a bachelor party, so we scooted ourselves back out of that alley to find a member to come back with us. We ended up having a great, crazy lesson with him and his four friends about the Book of Mormon, and at the end we were all on the ground kneeling while his friend stood and prayed for about ten minutes for all he was worth. And this is actually completely normal in my life now. I love it. Love love love it. I´m going to send some pictures now. Love, Hermana Peck
