Pictures from last weeks Service Project!
Our week went really fast, which is always good.
We're SO pero so pero so excited for Elvis. These flimsy little keyboards just can't convey how great he is.
Our problem right now is that this Saturday we will have baptized all of our Goldens. We've known this was coming, and have tried to work on finding new investigators to avoid the rut we're going to hit this Sunday after Elvis is a member, but we haven't found any Goldens yet. We have algunas cuantas investigators, but not a ton for the moment.
Josef, the ward mission leader is going to talk to Antonio, and give him a fuerte (hard) talking to about how he's depriving his family of blessings, so just take the money and get married dang it!! I hope that goes well. :) As soon as they're married they're ready to get baptized. Iris gave up her coffee, and they were almost offended we had to ask if they were willing to pay tithing. "OF COURSE!" they said.
Last night Liu, a recent convert who is angelic, decided we needed Krispy Kreme donuts and Coke. She bought 2 dozen!! (the day before, so she wasn't breaking the Sabbath) After we each ate one and a half, she looked forlornly into the box and said, "oh, I thought you were going to eat more..." Oh Liu.
Which brings me to my confession about Coke. I of course, had never ever touched it before the mission. And the first time it was unavoidable here (I'm sure many RMs understand, people drink it like water here) I thought it was the grossest thing ever. After the 5th ish time, it started to be bearable. I am now ashamed to admit that I really like it. Hna Erickson was exactly the same way. Now we have the rule that we can like it, but we will never buy it. So that's that. This pic is the one Liu had last night. She somehow thought we could down 2 and a half liters along with the two dozen donuts.
But no, Loren, we're not allowed to actually eat meals in people's homes. So this is the extent of getting fed.
I'm still working my way through Liv Momon An. The Book of Mormon in Creole. Believe it or not, the most I've gotten out of the Isaiah chapters in my life has been in Creole. It makes me focus on individual words, and then make sense of the overall message. I don't know how to explain it, but it's cool.
I finished the New Testament this week (in English, don't worry). That was a good book. I'd probably recommend it. Excepting of course parts about how long hair on the feminine being is much more spiritual than short. Thanks Paul. Just jump on the Dominican bandwagon for criticizing my hair. That's really the reason I'm growing it out, the people here give me such a hard time for it!
Well, everybody be excited to see pictures of Elvis's baptism this week. He's going to do great things for this church.
Oh no! the picture won't send! Maybe next time.
Love, Sarah
