This week has been really awesome. Tuesday after district council we went biking on the very edge of our area, a place I haven't been. It was gorgeous, rolling fields and huge blue sky with puffy clouds. I love biking.
Wednesday was the three week meeting for all the new missionaries and trainers. It was kind of like a second zone conference, I came out of there hyped to share the gospel with EVERYONE. It was so good to be around other missionaries too, I finally feel like I know people. I have some really great friends in the mission that I just adore. President Mutombo was smiling and laughing his contagious laugh as always. It was a good time.
We taught four member families a missionary lesson this week, which was fantastic. Usually we can only get ahold of one or two of our focus families so four is amazing. We also taught Tiffany this week, just a little lesson helping her remember that the things that seem like they are getting in the way of our growth are really opportunities to come closer to Jesus Christ. It went well.
John and Ben met us at the park to talk this week. John is basically modern -day Job. He is bearing his seemingly endless load of trials with so much patience and faith. I can't help but get the feeling that like in Jacob 5:66 "ye shall clear away the bad according as the good shall grow...until the good should overcome the bad". Things are happening in his life that will allow him to clear away the bad. I think good things are on the horizon for John. Praying for it.
Oh! My absolute favorite thing this week- the Deniker's invited us over for their family reunion (They have some family that is not active or not members so they make it a tradition to have the missionaries at family things). For this family reunion they do a CRAB BAKE!!! So we got to see them cook the crabs and then they rolled out the paper on the tables, piled them on there, and we got to learn how to "pick" crabs. It is such a mess, and is a lot of work for a little bit of meat but is perfect because you just sit and talk and pick. It was so fun and so delicious. I had a blast.
You got the picture yesterday from Julie, her son just got back from his mission and made us carne asada tacos and it was so super delicious. She also loves me and let us make smores, my soul food. We are going back on Tuesday to teach Julie the Restoration. We are praying that she has the spirit of understanding. We think she knows this is what she needs to do but is a little reluctant. I love her so, so, so much and am so grateful I get to be here to help her.
Sister Dawson is awesome, seriously such a hard worker and a great friend. I feel so blessed. The work is so much fun, I honestly love doing what we do. It's a great feeling.
Sorry this letter is so super long and rambly. I guess that's what you get when I'm in a good mood hahaha.
Thank you all so much for your prayers and Aunt Kathy, your letter is on my wall. I love your updates and words of encouragement. I get so excited when I get your letters :)
Keep being the amazing family that you are, keep doing Come Follow Me and reading your scriptures everyday. Thank you for your strong examples to me. I love you and miss you all SO SO SO super much.
Love, Sister Peck
