Transfer Week

Transfer docs did not get sent out last night. We got a message that they wouldn't be, despite the fact that they were starting earlier so the APs wouldn't be up till one in the morning again. The doc still hasn't come out this morning. We did get a call from President with some info. Elder Leatherwood is going, and Elders Youngstrom and Markham are training Elder Coons, here in Grapevine. My new companion is from New York, his name is Elder Leonardo. I'll meet him on Wednesday. It looks like I'll be staying here in Grapevine, but that hasn't been set in stone yet. This week we helped a sister move, and worked at Nash farms. Our service is significant because we were stuck in quarantine for awhile recently and couldn't do much. On Wednesday we did our final District Council for the transfer. Several of the sisters in the area are leaving for home at the end of this transfer, so we got a lot of pictures with them and let them share their testimony.

On Thursday we had our Christmas Zone conference. We had our little unpracticed choir sing, compared with several of the zones of over forty people who had been practicing with instruments for weeks. It was okay, I guess. After that I was asked to share a spiritual thought about angels. I talked about the symbol of change that angels are. That they represent change for the better, a return of the gospel and priesthood to the earth. A thinning of the veil. I talked about how Joseph Smith was taught by angels, not just by Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. And it was angels that restored the priesthood to him. It was pretty good.

After that president talked about the old story of big Tom and little Jim, and mercy. Then we all went outside to get a picture in the baking hot sun. Afterwards we went and did some caroling and gave some treats out to members. While doing that I ran into a member who happened to mention (when giving Elder Leatherwood her facebook info) that her maiden name was Haynie. We got on family history and found out we were only third cousins. We talked a bit more but had to leave quickly. I can't believe I was able to find someone so closely related to me out here. Next time we meet up I'll bring my family history stories.

This Friday we joined a zone call for our gingerbread house challenge. Ours quickly collapsed, but a lot of people had some really cool looking ones.

Then we did more caroling, and talking to members. Elder Leatherwood found out a bit early that he was being transferred and was telling all the members goodbye. On Saturday we did service at the farms again, and in the evening they cooked an authentic meal from the time period and we had dinner there.

Then Sunday happened, with no news. Just some more phone calls. The APs told us the document would be late, and I haven't gotten it yet. This next transfer should be something different. We'll see what happens. Talk soon.
