My Country!

3 of the biggest characteristics of the DR:
Drinking. . .

Trash. . .
(Zone Activity this morning)
. . .and Baseball!

I love coconut! I like to eat it plain. Or with a little bit of sugar on top.

For New Years Eve, we got to eat with Liu. And then try to sleep. It was sooo loud. Music blaring from both sides, and since the walls of houses here are not exactly super well built.... And the fireworks, and overall partying. . .I woke up super exhausted.

A
Basket for Lui full of "Must-Have" Christmas Treats and
Soda Floats (Non-Alcoholic version) on New Year's Eve!
Dinner at Liu's

The lesson with A____ family: They were super great. Him and his wife are super receptive, and we're excited. But the lesson lasted 2 HOURS! Ah! So that was really bad. Hna E and I talked probably 30 words the whole time. And they didn't come to church, but, there's lots of hope.

People stop coming to church during December, but we're seeing them all start to come back now that it's the New Year.

Today is Dia de Los Reyes. King's day. This is the day were the kids get presents. They don't get them very much on Christmas from Santa Claus, they get them today from the Wise Men.

F____ is getting baptized on Saturday. He's 13 and super cute. He shows up early every Sunday in a shirt and tie and watches the teachers get the sacrament ready and helps pass out hymnbooks and stuff.
Making mofongo (twice fried platanos {bananas}) with E____ and his mother.  Fry the pieces, smash them a bit, fry them again, then mash it all with garlic and onion (and throw in meat if you want)!

The weather has been pretty nice. (For the DR. There's a bit of a breeze that is beautiful.)  The work is good. So I can't complain (District 2 quote that we always quote)

But yeah. Sorry, I'm super tired, I'm going to go home and take a nap (playing baseball with a bunch of guys is a bit exhausting).
So sorry if this isn't the most fascinating email you've ever read.

Everything's great,
Love you all lots and lots,
Love Sarah Hermana Peck
