Comments about Haiti for Kim:
Every zone meeting they tell us about how much better Haiti is doing than us as a misison because the Haitian people actually read the Book of Mormon. A lot. And for us, sometimes it's pulling teeth to get them to read anything.
Also, speaking of Haiti, my creole study is finally back. (After having to give away my Creole Book of Mormon to a family in Bani) I have a little deal worked out with a Haitian member. He teaches me Creole and I work with him on English. It's been a good trade so far. Before, I could read, but didn't know how to pronounce anything. Now I'm getting there, and he finally stopped laughing at my French R (opposite of Spanish R) so I'd say that's progress.
We're having a baptism this Sunday of a youth named Wander. He was going to get baptized this Saturday, but I was having serious doubts about his level of preparedness, so hopefully we can help him out this week and get him all ready. He'd never prayed to know if it was true, so we explained the importance of that.
I hope LeiBy got baptized in Bani.
Our ward mission leader was reactivated about 5 or 6 months ago, and he's pretty cool. He took us to meet his uncle's family, who is also menos activo. We've met with them twice now, and they seemed really excited. We talked about getting ready to go to the temple and seal their family. It was especially cool because she lost 2 of her children, and we reminded her that the sealing blessings can ensure her that she will be with her children again and that she will always be their mother. And we talked with him about preparing to baptize his 10 year old son. And they talked about some of the miracles they've experienced in their life. I really hope that they come to church this next Sunday and don't let that animo (excitement) die. I think they have a lot of potential.
Loren asked if I can write converts. Yes. I just finished another letter to Elvis, and one to Antonio and Iris. Last week I wrote to Yolanda, Freddi, Angel and Christopher. Yolanda and Freddi have both written me back. And Carlos, from Quisqueya wrote me once. Thank heavens for FB to keep in touch after the mission.
Everything's great, love you all.
Love Sarah
