Mission Inception!

Hey Family!!!!
The missionaries emailing their families.

Wow, what a week! It's been super busy and really nice actually. We hardly had time to slow down. Some fun things this week:

We went to the giant Gunyam statue on Monday! It's a huge white Buddhist statue in Tai Po.

Legend tells of a white woman who visited China a long long time ago... The members here love to think it might be Jesus and that people just got confused... Who knows? Maybe. It was even taller than the Big Buddha statue.

And we got to write scrolls with calligraphy pens. Super fun. It was so peaceful there. Oh, and I went with Sister Ramboz!!!!! We were celebrating our 1 year since we met at USU! Who'd a thought we would celebrate it at a giant Buddhist statue? Super fun!

Also, I got the package!!! Thank you mom!!!!! Everything was like Christmas!!! It was all exactly what I love!!!! You know me so well mom. ;) Even down to the big sharing sized candy bags. You've obviously done this missionary thing before... Our apartment is very grateful. We had mac and cheese this week and I thought I would die of happiness.

We had an amazing dinner with a couple in our ward and the Elder's investigator.
It was his birthday, so we got a cake and celebrated. Lui Jm is an amazing cook.

She's Filipino and her husband is Chinese. We had chicken and spaghetti and potatoes, it was all so yummy. And NO chicken feet. :D Lui Jm's (Jimuih) conversion story is amazing too.

We also got a traditional moon cake this week! The first of the season!!! It was super good. The kind with the egg yokes inside. So fun!

Other things this week, Sara and Nico came to church this week! She's going to make her baptismal date!!!!!! We're so happy! It's been so cool to watch them develop faith and build their testimonies.

We had a meeting with a less active and ended up fasting with him yesterday that his wife would open her heart to the church and to the idea of meeting with us. It was such a cool experience. Sis. Webb bore a really powerful testimony about the lost sheep. So cool.

One of my favorite parts of being a missionary is seeing people notice that our church is different. There are so many churches in Hong Kong, and religion is viewed as more of a side thing, under education and work. So it's cool to see them take notice of our church and tell us that there's something special about it.

The title is Mission Inception because Sis. Webb and I were talking about how really this mission is just a mission within a mission. Our other mission is this life on Earth. We spend time away from our Heavenly Parents to learn and help others come back to live with them again. It reminded me of the sign in our foyer while Chris was on his mission.  It says something about how missionaries leave their families for two years (or 18 months) so that others can be with their families for eternity. That's our mission. I'm so grateful for what the gospel has done for me. I hope I can help someone else have that happiness too.

Love you all so much! Hope this week is amazing! Thanks for all the prayers, I do feel them.

Till next week!
Sister Peck
