Joy in the Journey!

Wow! Conference was amazing! I especially loved Elder Holland's talk on the Atonement, that really got to me, and I've thought a lot about that. It was a great thing to hear from the prophets just before it is time to go. I loved Steven E. Snow's talk on Changes, because this upcoming change has given me a little trepidation. Especially the language. There are some native Pinyos (short for Filipino, and in no way, shape, or form derrogatory) - (funny fact, there is no "F" in the Filipino alphabet) . . .here, and I can't understand a word they say until they slow it waaaaayyyyy doooowwwwnnnnn. They undersand what I say, though, so I guess that's a good sign. We were promised that we'd see some Filipinos in California in the airport, so we'll keep an eye out.
I loved hearing the talks about living within our means, and providing, I have a great family that's an amazing example of that. Thanks for the training, Mom -- that's too 'spensive.
So, here's the plan for tonight. We leave here at 5:30, by then I'll have finished all the "last" things I've got to do -- for example -- take a shower that both flows without compulsory means, and is hot, drink milk, (chocolate for you, Grandma Swan), use toilet paper -- I'll miss that invention (but the Filipinos here say that their method is superior). Maybe that's an exageration -- we'll see soon enough.
Okay, after that, our flight leaves from Salt Lake at 9:05 this evening, I'll try to call from there. I'm excited to talk to you all! After we land in San Fransisco, we head to Taipe, Taiwan. We leave at 1:10 AM, on the 7th of April, and land in Taiwan at 5:50 AM on the 8th. Then We'll arrive in Manila at 11:40 AM. What a plan!
By the way, Mom, I left a package here that will be sent to Provo to pick it up. I wasn't sure exactly how it's going to work. When it's there, they'll call you, but I wrote that Kim would pick it up. I'm not sure if that's the best, maybe I can talk talk to you about it tonight.
The butterflies have been off and on. I haven't an idea what to expect, I'll just try to keep smiling, I guess. This time at the MTC has been incredible, the best experience of my life. I've learned so much, and begun to change for the better. I've never felt so happy, so constantly, and I've felt the Spirit with me at all times. Some times have been a little bit discouraging, but with the help of these amazing teachers, and leaders, and the companionship of the Holy Ghost, I've been able to overcome and improve. I've been humbled over and over, and had some of the greatest spiritual experiences of my life.
Thanks again to everyone that's sent letters! It's lifted my spirits, and given me confidence. I'm sorry I couldn't respond to every one. I love you all! I'll talk to you tonight.
Elder Loren Peck
