Krispy Kreme P-Day.
They have a fake beach in the corner. Closest I might ever get to the Dominican Beaches!
Haircut time for Hermana Safeer.
Latest Agenda
And it´s transfers. Drumroll...................... .I´´m leaving my first area for the area across the street. Piantini. To be the step-mom of my younger sister. For those of you who aren´t quite sure what I´m talking about, Hna Frye, my trainer, is my mom. After one transfer with me, she trained Hna Theobald for 2 transfers. Hna Theobald is going to be my new companion, sometimes referred to as the follow-up trainer, or step-mom. I never had one. But we´´re going to be living with Hna Frye and she´s going to be training again. It´´s just going to be a big family party in Piantini. I went on intercambios last week with Hna Theobald in Piantini before I knew, and it was great, so I know we´ll have a great transfer. It´s the closest the DR gets to America. Right in the middle of the capital, super super rich. All rich apartment buildings. And everyone works. Which makes it a bit tricky, but we´ll whip it into shape. It was just recently opened to Hermanas, and we'll be splitting it this transfer.
I´m going to miss being companions with Hna Safeer. She really encouraged my spontaneous side, and always kept me laughing.
A very heartfelt thanks for the letters this week. I got a nice little stack from family on Wednesday and Thursday. They were answers to prayers. Dad, Loren, Kim, and Mom, thank you so so much. All of the things that you shared made such big impacts on me.
This week we started teaching piano lessons with the new piano our church got. EVERYONE wants lessons. It gets crazy. But Genesis can right-hand How Great Thou Art, so we´ve seen some definite progress. I´m going to miss it, I had a blast the couple times we did it.
It just keeps getting hotter here. I don´t know how. But it actually probably is hotter in Utah right now. Temperature wise at least. We definitely win on humidity though.
Sorry, I feel like these emails keep getting lamer and lamer as the work just gets more normal life.
Last week the District Leader got after us for contacting too much (what?) and this week, for contacting too little. Not sure I´ll actually figure out what he really wants.
Oh! For the first time in my short life, I drank Coke. And it was so gross. I couldn't find a way out of it with a member, so down it went. Bleh.
It was Father´s day here yesterday, so since I forgot the real one, Happy Father´s Day Dad!
I´m hoping that I´ll be able to travel down to see the baptisms in August for Rosie and Carla, since my area will be so close.
Also, we found a new little family. Juan Carlos (12) has now been to church 3 times in a row, his mom came for the first time yesterday, and she said that he started praying every morning and night. Hna Safeer committed them to baptism, and they said yes. I´m excited for them.
It´s kind of hard to leave all the people I've ever known from the DR. Probably everyone feels that way leaving their first area. But I´m excited.
Love you all lots! I promise I´ll do my best to make next week´s email a bit more entertaining.
Love,
Hermana Peck
