Oh What Do You Do In the Summertime?

Sarah
Did this work?  Check in next week. . .
Sarah finally gets her package - after it traveled from Utah to the DR-back to Utah, and back to the DR.
 Star Fruit!  Happy Girl!

Oh what do you do in the summertime. . .
Do you sit by the pool to keep yourself cool, and watch all the clouds that go by? If that´s what you do....Then we´re not doing the same things.
But we may have gotten a little dangerously close to swimming this week. Tropical storm Shantal (sp?) found us in the middle of the street. Literally, in the very middle of the street, because the water would be most shallow there and it would be relatively even ground. Cars- turned boats- were cruising down both sides of us, making waves that threatened to tip us over. The river of the calle (street) Mejia Ricart Gustavo was running at about knee-deep on us (keep in mind I´´m 5 foot 11 ish, and Hna Safeer is 6 foot 2 ish). All the sidewalks and alleys leading into the street were like waterslides. And to make the image of two white girls in drenched skirts walking down the middle of the street with honking cars all around even better, we´re gripping our bright umbrellas for dear life because it´s a torrential rain the likes of which no Utah native has ever experienced. Now keep in mind how polluted and trashy the streets are; this was no Pocahontas river. A menos-activa in the ward, around age 18, decides we need saved. She and her friends and some other kids are out and about in swimsuits in the storm. (A lot of people grab their shampoo and shower in the rain all the time). So she comes over, grabs our hands, and leads us through. She also grabs Hna Safeer´s skirt and ties it in a knot to get it out of the water. I was laughing so so hard at the whole situation.

Rosa came to church! First time! She´´s also giving up coffee. She hasn´t had it since the Word of Wisdom lesson, that she actually pretty much taught to us. She´s trying to separate from her ¨husband¨ right now, but doesn´t have the money to make the move. But she and her 3 adorable daughters all came, all dressed up. During sacrament meeting they all happily drew pictures with my colored pencils. She is one of the nicest ladies I have ever met. There is already such a spirit in her home.

Carla´s baptism is planned for August 10! We´´re really excited.

Love you all!
Love, Hna Sarah Peck
