4th of July Over Here!
Funny enough, we were probably watching the World Cup about the same time as you guys. We had zone meeting then went to a little restaurant thing. It had a huge TV with the game between France and Germany. It's a kinda big deal here even though the DR isn't good at anything but baseball.
So we had zone meeting, and for the first time in my entire mission, I didn't get mail. Not a piece. Nothing. It was super, super sad. During the course of my mission, I've always been the winner mail receiver of my zone. But I guess it's time to step down.
It happened to also be Hermana Conrady's 7 month mark and the 4th of July is her favorite holiday. We made red and purple jello. (They don't sell blue, and I realized I don't know how to make that white layer that grandma always makes.) And we had the world's most delicious cobbler. So so good. Peach cobbler we made in the oven. We also decorated the house. So at night we just had a fire on the roof, ate cobbler, and yeah. Nothing too crazy.
The other Hermanas were supportive. Hna Saenz is from Mexico but could probably spit and have it land in the US, so every 4th of July they sit and watch the fireworks going off in El Paso, Texas.
Yes, Wander is going to do the baptism for his deceased father. He lives with his mother.
We are the only ones that help with family history.
We're the only ones who know how to do family history.
We're the only ones that know how to run a computer.
I assumed Wander would at least know how to type.....no.
Do you readers ever wonder what happens to those people that I just stop talking about? Maybe I do it to try to save you all the pain and anguish that comes from losing investigators. Only one of us needs to get our heart ripped out.
That could probably sum up the week. Hearts ripped out. If you've ever seen the District 2, Elder Murray says, "Just as we were becoming the best missionaries we've even been, the baptisms....stopped." Or something like that. We had 3 baptisms planned for this month. We now have zero. Sad sad sad.
Today we went to that river again up in Padre las Casas to hunt crabs. We found a toad. I gave up and sat on a rock, but everyone else caught some crabs. That's what enduring to the end does for you.
So, let's take a good lesson out of that. Endure to the end. Sounds good.
Love to all,
Hermana Sarah
