Now I Have Two Moms!

Hey everyone!

Now, don't freak out mom, you're still my mom too. I'll explain the title in bit.

It's been an interesting week for sure. A good week, but interesting. I'm not sure if I can really explain why. We had so many changes over the week that everything seemed a little different. A good different though.
So the title. I actually think I got close to 4 or 5 new moms this week. And the quote is from Studio C for those of you who didn't get the joke. Yep, I'm hilarious. Sister Stafford's mom send us these super cute little treat bags! I'll send pictures. Sis. Stafford says that she loves us and wants to adopt us, so I got another mom. Also, we met Brother and Sister Roskelley, who are a senior couple going to Hong Kong! She calls us her kids and calls herself Mama Roskelley, so there's my other mom. After that I just lost count. But don't worry mom, I'm still all yours. ;)

We got the new sisters and Elder this week, which was so amazing! I love them so much already and they have such a sweet spirit around them! I'm pretty sure they think we're a little crazy though. Oh well, that's what happens when you're stuck here for nine weeks. I felt so bad watching them be sooooo stressed the first few days. They taught their first investigator on Friday and were so discouraged. So it was kind of ironic I think that I was praying that they'd be comforted and know how to be patient with themselves, because no one expects them to learn the language in three days. But it was a flashback to my first week and it was so cool to see how far I've come. Wow. We also got the other districts and for some reason the other mandarin zone also moved into our building, so now our floor is quite a bit more crowded, but it's fun. I didn't get a picture with Chase, but I did get to talk to him a tiny bit. I'm so proud of him! He's so amazing, and such a great example.

We saw Jack and the rest of my district got to put a face to all the notes and packages I've gotten! They were all so excited to meet Uncle Jack! I also got to talk to him for just a bit and it made my day so much better. I'm so blessed to have him here! And yep, that was floral Friday!

Thanks for all the notes and packages this week!!! Such a blessing!

Mom, thanks for the cute package! It made me so happy! I love getting a little bit of home! So awesome! The Mason's gave me those butterscotch nests with Cadbury eggs. They were a hit!! Same with the peeps! Li Jimuih (my teacher) was soooo thrilled when I offered her one. She wrapped it in a kleenex and took little bites of it every so often. I love her so much!!! She's so funny and has an amazing testimony! What an example!

But also, with that, a cool moment this week was when Li Jimuih was trying to help one of the new districts with the tall program on the computers and she asked our trio to help, but as she was talking to us, I noticed that the new mandarin elders were looking at us strangely. Then I realized she was still talking in Cantonese. SAY WHAT?! It was SO cool. I guess I'm improving just a little. Gift of tongues is SO true!!!

For our devotionals this week, we had some awesome speakers! On Tuesday, we got to hear from Elder Valeri Cordon, who also spoke in conference. I loved it! It was such an amazing talk and he's so funny! Then afterwards, we talked to Brother Cordon, Ou Yeung Hindaih (Not sure how you spell it), who is not our official teacher, but he hangs out with us a lot and teaches us sometimes, and if you haven't put it together, he has the same last name. He's Elder Cordon's nephew! What! Craziness. But Brother Cordon is getting fired, let go, whatever, this month cause he's been at the mtc for 3 years. So sad!!! But he's going to Shanghai and will actually be coming to Hong Kong while we're there!

Anyway, we had an Easter devotional yesterday and Dallin H. Oaks and his wife came and spoke to us!! Awesome! And Sheri Dew spoke that night for our normal devo. Wow, I was so spiritually drained by the end of the day!! Also, we became the new Sister training leaders for our zone. Super exciting!!!

So, we're all starting to freak out just a bit about the fact that we only have about two weeks left. Kind of intimidating. But in some ways I'm also sooo ready to get out of here. I love the MTC, but it's also been way too long in some ways. And maybe to short in other ways too. But you know you're getting old when you're sitting in choir practice and a sister comes and sits by you, and without turning and looking at their tag, you know. English speaker, brand new this week. True story. Yup. That's just sad. You can always tell. They're sitting just slightly too straight or something. I don't know what it is, but maybe it's a cool super power. But I'm telling you, it definitely wasn't just a coincidence. It happens aaaaall the time.

Oh oh oh!!! So also, I was so happy this week because I was totally Sherlock. Yes. We learned tricks to remember words and stuff, and we learned how to create mind palaces!!!! YES!!! I felt so cool. Ok, so maybe mine is more like a shack, but it's still cool. And it totally works!

I love the Church videos!!! Especially the main Easter video! I love the music and it's so powerful! We actually showed it to our investigators this week, Nikki loved it and it totally set the tone for the lesson. She's progressing so much!!! And then Lam Jimuih is amazing, and we actually got to teach her "daughter" as well!!! She's so sweet and was willing to listen to us! Yay!! But those videos are amazing. I'd encourage anyone who hasn't watched them to watch them. So cool.

I'm out of time for this email, but I love you all so much and hope it's a good week. Just remember to focus on the Savior and things will work out. Especially since it was Easter, it's a good time of year to remember everything we've been given. I love you all and I really can feel your prayers so much. They help me every single day! I love this gospel and I'm so grateful to be able to go and teach it. You're all amazing!!
