Lindsay's Last Week

Inner Harbor

Right before we got the call from Pres. Mutombo saying I was going home on Thursday, we were helping a dear Hermana get her medication from Sam's club. She is such a sweetheart and it was a lot of fun. That night after the call, when I stopped crying for a minute, we went and had a lesson with Jamie and Garrett. They have such a special place in my heart. It was such a powerful lesson because they were asking so many questions. They WANT to know for themselves. They found their own answers in the Book of Mormon. They are going to be baptized someday!!

This was such a cool day because MIRACLE IN BALTIMORE! We had gone to the hospital to visit a woman who was being taught in Fredrick, then we were bussing to a member's house for dinner. On the bus ride over, Hna Crofts nudged me and nodded towards a woman who was looking at us and smiling. I started talking to her. She is from Honduras and has only been here for 4 months. She asked why I had started talking to her and I explained that I was a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She smiled and said that she knew, because SHE was a member of the Church!! Aaahh! She knew that God had placed us in her path to find her. We met her 5 adorable kids and they are going to work on getting to church, and hopefully eventually become members themselves! So many miracles.

So much food this week because when it's your last week in Baltimore...there are just some things you're not sure you can live without. Like papusas. Or Hector's AMAZING waffles. Or Pure Raw Juice acai bowls. Not going to lie, there are few things that I think are better on the east coast than the west but these things are some exceptions.

So many hard goodbyes. It was really one of the hardest, most painful weeks of my life but on Sunday (the day before I came home) I felt sustained on the wings of angels.

My sweet sweet companions and Sister Training Leaders. I am beyond grateful for their love and support and for all I have learned from them. I am so blessed.

Another huge tender mercy- the night before I left I was sent to stay with the Sister Training Leaders in Columbia. They were already invited to a Hispanic get together for dinner so I got to speak a little Spanish and feel very much at home. They explained the purple corn dessert and the tradition of rosca de reyes, the round bread. It was such a show of God's awareness and love.
I also received so many sweet messages from people throughout the week, and I am so grateful for those. While it really was such a miserable week in some ways, I'm so grateful I still had a little time to teach and be with these amazing people. I love them so so so so so much. I'm also so grateful for the amazing companion that supported me through this week. I love her so incredibly much.
Goodbye's were so painful but I know I'll see them again someday.
