Hey All,
Thanks for the letter, it looks like things are going well! The pictures all looks so good.
This week actually hasn't had a lot happen, so it might be kind of short. Sorry about that.
Basically this week was pretty normal. Just chugging along.
Last p-day we went to Stanley and I got a few things, I'll show you guys later. ;) It was really weird to see so many white people. So weird. They actually spoke English... Also, I realized this week, my English has in fact declined, despite the fact that we speak English more than we speak Cantonese most days. We've discovered what we call, the Missionary English. It consists mostly of incorrect grammar structures and random Chinese words here and there. That was a weird moment. And when I tried praying in English at English Class, I failed epically. It was a very interesting moment for me. I guess that's good though, I never thought I would be caught with two languages I'm bad at speaking. I think I'm going to start speaking in gibberish. It's easier.
It's been the week off for everyone here, so everyone is in Mainland. It was a little hard to schedule people, but then people were also more available too, so pros and cons.
Anywho, we were invited to play ping pong with Lai Jimuih and her son Jasper since it's their break. They invited some nonmembers too, so we met them and it was pretty fun. Lai jm is the definition of every member a missionary. She's amazing.
We had lunch with some members too and they were super nice. I love meeting with the members, they're so nice and are so willing to help the missionaries. This ward is so amazing honestly.
In other news, we got a new investigator!!! Liuh siuje(miss) is from a district find, then we met with her the next day to help her 6 yr old Mandy with her English homework. We shared a brief message, then invited them to church. And they came!!! We were super pleasantly surprised. Mandy absolutely LOVED primary, and Liuh siuje seemed to like the other classes ok, so we'll see how it goes! We'll go to her house again to help Mandy this week. So exciting!
And Chloe, the RC (recent convert) came to church and brought Jimmy! It's his birthday today and he's now 7! We're going to their house for dinner on Tuesday to celebrate. It's been a really good week.
It was also a really good week to remember Christ's atonement and resurrection. It's been really cool to read in Jesus the Christ over the week and really study His life more closely. It's so humbling to see the way He taught and the example He set for us. All of the missionaries were told to bear their testimony yesterday, so I had the opportunity. My words didn't come out very clear at all, you know how I get in front of large groups, add Cantonese and it's a mess. But the spirit was strong and I wasn't nervous or embarrassed. I knew what I was trying to say was true and I was so grateful to be there at that moment. I was so grateful for the knowledge that Jesus Christ died for us, but more importantly, He overcame death for us so that we can be resurrected too. That is why we ALL share the gospel with others. It's to help them have this knowledge and happiness too. Without it, I've seen how unhappy some of them are, and it's so important. I love you all so much and hope this week is amazing. Pray for missionary opportunities! You're amazing.
Love, Sister Peck
